Li'enne's Birthday Ball

The Kingdom of Feldra is regulated not only by a feudal system of ranked nobles but also by the Ancient Feldran Enchantments, which enforce the rules and traditions of the kingdom as laid down by powerful wizards millennia ago. One of the more well-known of these Enchantments grants the King of Feldra invincibility in hand-to-hand combat. Others include the compulsions that force compliance with any oath taken while in the kingdom and the behavioral constraints placed on formally-installed nobles such as knights. The Enchantments of Feldra are unbreakable, uncounterable, and more powerful than any other magic known anywhere. The Keeper of Traditions, currently Bertrand Reese, has authority over and knowledge of this Ancient Magic. Ceremonies that take advantage of this magic, from knighthood to marriage, are conducted by him.

One such Enchantment has cause the occasion of the evening, for it has become well-known that there is an obscure Feldran rule requiring every daughter of the King to be married before her twenty-first birthday. An unmarried Feldran Princess who turns twenty-one, shall die.

Up to this point, King Johan Feldra's oldest daughter, Li'enne, has remained unmarried. King Feldra has hosted this party in order to find a suitable match for his daughter, as she will be twenty-one a few short hours later (she was born shortly after the midnight that will end the party). All of the characters in the larp (save two mysterious figures, the Nevilsmythe twins) are party attendees, either invited as eligible suitors or residents of the Castle whose presence is appropriate.
